Airshow Weekend!

Thursday, July 29th, 2010

This is the week-end for the big airshow in Rockford, Illinois. Last year was the first year that my company allowed us to fly an aircraft to the airshow. It was a huge success, we raised money for the USO in Chicago, the Veterans group and promoted the company to over 200,000 attendees.

This year is expected to be even bigger and better, if you are anywhere close by you need to come out to the Rockford airport this week-end to check out the shows and all the different types of aircraft. Be sure to stop by the American Eagle Regional Jet to say hello.

We will be giving aircraft tours and have maintenance personal that will have the engine open for you to see just how everything works and to answer your questions. It is going to be a great week-end for an airshow! Hopefully, we will see you there.

Vacation Time

Tuesday, July 20th, 2010

I have never been one to vacation that much, I travel for a living , so I really enjoy spending my time off at home. For fifteen years I was either out of the country flying for the N.C. Air National Guard or on a trip with the airlines. I had a small condo on the lake and even though I enjoyed my time off, I was equally happy when I was gone flying somewhere.

What a difference a few years can make! I have a house on the lake now that is a little more labor intensive than my condo, but I enjoy the privacy. There is no other place that I would rather be than just hanging out at home with the family.

I was how ever talked into going on a camping/boating trip with some of my wife’s friends and family in Destin Florida. It was the first vacation that I had been on since my honeymoon and it is so easy to forget just how nice it is to just get away from everything.

I had no computer or cell phone coverage for most of the trip and it was great! It was just a bunch of people getting together for some cold beer and a good time. It was a large group, but oddly enough, no complaining about work or anything else too heavy. Everyone just wanted to relax and have a little fun.

We should all be able to take time just to get away, even if only for a day or two. It really helps to clear your mind and put things back into prospective. With my son getting older, I am looking forward to taking more trips and just getting away more often.

I know that we are all busy and I am just as guilty as everyone else, but try to take some time to appreciate life. Most of the time it seems like everything is going to hell in a hand basket, it is like that for most of the people that I talk to. That is why I took action years ago to try to create a better situation for myself and my family.

If you are not where you want to be or would like more time with your family you are definitely not alone! I am working with a great group of successful people that are building a business that will pay huge dividends for many years to come. It does not happen over night, but it is happening.

If you would like to make a change just drop me a line anytime at Mike@healthandwealthforpilots.com and I can explain some of the opportunities that I am involved in that are changing my life.  Also, visit my web site at www.healthandwealthforpilots.com it has a lot of great information as well.

New Challenges

Wednesday, July 14th, 2010

I started flying over 22 years ago and it is something that I still enjoy to this day, I would just like to do it a little less. I remember the feeling I had my first lesson, looking at that cockpit for the first time and  seeing what seem to be at the time, a lot of complex instruments.  It did not take long before everything started to come together, the more that I flew the easier it got.

Since then, I have had several similar experiences, my first experience in the military was an aircraft maintenance school. I knew very little about aircraft maintenance, but I took the same approach that I took with flying. When learning something that seems intimidating, never look at the big picture. Take it one step, one day, one lesson at a time.

After turning wrenches for a few years, I was kinda bored and really wanted to fly, so there was a position open for a Flight Engineer on the C-130 aircraft. I interviewed and got the position, the training was long and intense. One year I would be gone for various schools and training, it was difficult, but I did loved every minute of it.

I look back at the training that I have achieved and where I am today and I am very great full,  because it has given me the confidence to do anything that I want to do. When I started my first business I knew very little about real estate, but I knew that if I would take some time and read and study everything that I could get my hands on and talk with other real estate investors,  I would figure it out.

I did learn a lot and I love real estate, I am an active investor today. The business that has really started to fascinate and challenge me is the network marketing business, direct sales, or MLM. It has many names, but it is an amazing business. With just a little money, a little knowledge and some help from your more experienced upline team you can start to make a great second income really fast. You can even replace your primary income, if that is your goal.

You have to be open minded and willing to learn, you should always be looking for ways to improve yourself and your quality of life. When is the last time you have challenged yourself, in anything? Put the remote down a couple nights a week and learn something new, you might be surprised where it could take you. Airport Appreciation Time

Tuesday, July 13th, 2010

Well it is day four for me and as usual the company has schedule a 3.5 hour sit for me and my crew before flying our last turn of the day. We started the morning in Toledo OH, came back to Chicago, then Columbus, OH and back to Chicago. Now, we have a long sit before doing our last turn, which is a very short turn to Grand Rapids, MI.

Not a very efficient schedule in my opinion, but what do I know? I just drive the bus from A to B and count the days when I can leave this place for good. After having to beg for some time off to be able to take care of my son next week, it has been a real struggle to be here and try to have a good attitude.

I know that most of you know what I am talking about! I very rarely meet someone that is truly happy in their job. It is usually the money or lack there of, or the amount of time that they have to put in every week. For me it is both, the time away and what I miss with my family while I am gone, the pay is not enough!

I am flying with a guy that is looking for another job because he thinks that will make him happy. He does not get it, but he will. The only airline that I know of that the employees are happy is Southwest Airlines. The company treats their employees well, pays them well and lets them know how much they actually care, what a concept!

The people that I know that have their own business and can work from home and are making the kind of money that they need to be making are the ones that are the happiest and that number of people is growing more and more everyday. It is not difficult to start and grow a business today, technology & social media make it easier than every to grow a business.

To get started with your own home based business, you need a great product, great management and a proven system to be successful. I have two opportunities that I am involved in that have all of those qualities and more. Also, being a part of a great team is very helpful in being able to achieve success more quickly. Just understand that there is no get rich quick with any business, you have to put forth your time and effort and grow it.

Over 90% of people that start a network marketing opportunity drop out within 90 days and over 80% never have anyone join their business. This business is not for everyone, but for those that stick with it and learn how to do it, it is very rewarding! You have to be able to overlook the negative people that will try to talk you out of doing your own business, just because they have been to afraid to try or have tried and failed.

I like what Brighart said in Orlando at our conference to about five thousand people, “You can make money or you can make excuses, you decide which.” He is the #1 networker in the world, remember the wealthy build networks while the poor look for jobs. Coming soon www.healthandwealthforpilots.com will have a lot of great information about my opportunities, check it out.

Work from home

Friday, July 9th, 2010

I know that there is always pros and cons in every opportunity, I have a few friends that are fortunate enough to be able to work from home and love it! I do envy them very much, they never have to worry about not being there for their family and can take care of day to day appointments very easily.

Yesterday, I had the very unpleasant experience of having to ask for time off from my Chief Pilot, so I could take care of my son while my wife goes out of town for a few days. It should have been a non event, but since the airline chooses to work  us so short, there is no tolerance for people requesting any time off.

After beating me down and saying some things that were very unprofessional I was given the time off. I guess that is the price I pay for having a job and working for a company that just does not care about its employees, which is becoming more common place now a days it seems.

I do not know about you, but I am fed up with having to beg for a day or two off to be able to take care of my family or to deal with an issue at home. Working from home, running your own business is the best way to go in my opinion. Being your own boss has more advantages than disadvantages by far and it is easier today to accomplish than ever.

It does require a little time, effort and determination to make it a reality. I have always been told that once you reach three times your salary in your business, then it is time to give up your job. I am working hard to reach that goal, if you are interested or have the same goal as I do we can help each other.

I just started another business a few weeks ago and already we have some great people on board that are really growing the business and generated a nice income for themselves working from home.

New Opportunity!

Monday, July 5th, 2010

I truly believe that you only get a couple of chances to do something big with your life. You should always be on the look out and be ready and willing to take advantage of an opportunity when it comes your way.

Last week I missed my flight home and was pretty upset, I had to wait another two hours before my next flight. I ran into a good friend of mine from work that I had not seen in a while,  I do believe that people cross your path for a reason.

My friend Mike was also involved in the network marketing business and had just got the opportunity to come on board with a new company called Nuriche. I have known Mike for years and had not seen him this excited about anything.

After speaking with the president of the company and looking at their products and compensation plan, I could not say no to this new opportunity. Very rarely due you get a chance to start out ground floor with a new company that has this kind of talent and backing.

Below is a link about why network marketing is the perfect business, take a look and as always feel free to leave me a comment.

Happy 4th of July!

Sunday, July 4th, 2010

It is 6:00am CST and as usual I am in an airplane. This morning we are leaving Springfield, MS headed to Dallas, TX. Me and my crew are deadheading on a flight to pick up our trip in DFW. Sometimes when our schedulers do not do a very good job building our lines or schedules for the month, we wind up having to fly in the back for a leg or two to get in position to pick up our trip.

I hope that everyone else is enjoying the holiday with friends and family! My family is at the beach for the week-end having a great time, I wish that I could be with them! Next year for sure, I don’t know anyone that likes working on holidays, but yet so many of us do it year after year.

At least this week I have a great crew that I am flying with. My flight attendant is three semesters short of her Masters in International Business, so she will be leaving this crazy business soon. My First Officer is involved with the same network marketing business that I am, so we have a lot to talk about.

He has been here for only a few years and is still single, but can see right away just how difficult this job would be for him if he were married and had children. So, he started a network marketing business because it made sense to him. For very little money he could have a legitimate business that he could work while on the road and generate a nice additional income.

Only one year into the business and he is making almost as much as his salary as a First Officer. A job that he not only spent 80,000 on his education, but five years of his life to be qualified for. This time next year he will be making more money with his business than he would be if he were a Captain, that is pretty powerful!

Needless to say that my First Officer is in a great position, he is not worried about how long it is going to take him to upgrade to Captain or if he will be laid off from the job. He has the security of knowing that he is financially secure no matter what. How nice would that be if we all could feel that way?

It is not hard to do, it just requires a little action on your part, stop thinking about starting that business, stop wishing you were better off financially and do something about it.
