New Year

Tuesday, December 28th, 2010

Here is to 2011, I know this past year has been a difficult one for most to say the least. It is so hard to let go of the past and move on. I remember when I first started with the airlines, I would have a check ride every year and I would get so nervious. Anytime I would make one mistake, I would dwell on that mistake and continue to make more. It was not until I got a little experience before I learned not to get wrapped up in my mistakes.

You must look forward and do not worry about what happen yesterday, the money you have lost or the relationships that have ended is all water under the bridge. Learn from your mistakes and press on, align yourself with the right people. You must make goals and write them down, review them daily and make a committment to being in a better place this time next year. I love the saying, ” a journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.”

Take inventory of where you are and where you would like to be, get the right people on your team, take action, don’t stop and don’t look back. Make 2011 your best year yet!

Life is a game of inches, day by day, stay in the game and do not quit, you will make it! Listen to Al Pacino’s great speech from Any Given Sunday below.

Merry Christmas

Sunday, December 26th, 2010

This has to be without a doubt the best Christmas I have ever experienced. Thanks to a minor surgery that I had just prior to the holidays, I was able to have this time off for recovery and for the first time since 1947 we had a white Christmas in North Carolina. So, I was able to be with my family and see my four year old little boy’s face on Christmas morning. Seeing that kind of excitement is priceless!

It is so hard to be away from family during the holidays but with my job, it just comes with the territory. I have been doing this a long time and it gets more difficult every year. There has not been much movement in the last ten years thanks to 9/11,  so I am still considered to be a pretty junior Captain and can never get a holiday off.

That is one of the many reasons I push my business so hard, I would love to walk away from this crazy business and be home every night. My son just told me today that he wished that I never had to go back to Chicago because he misses so much when I am gone. I am glad to hear that I am missed, but it breaks my heart to here him say those words.

I hope all of you had a Merry Christmas and will work hard to make all of your hopes and dreams come true in 2011.

Greed is Good?

Sunday, December 19th, 2010

Maybe in the movies, but it has not been good for the middle class Americans that are rapidly dissappearing in this country. Greed has been a major cause of our economic issues and the over all lack of trust we have today. I wished I could say that it will get better, but the more laws that get passed and departments that are formed that we pay for, the worse shape we seem to find ourselves in. There will always be loop holes in any system, learn how to use the system to your benefit and stop letting the system take advantage of you.

Cash is now and always will be king, learn to generate more of it. Take advantage of our current tax laws and form your own business, keep most of your money, instead of giving it away to the government to be wasted. Wake up and learn to take care of yourself and your family, time passes too quickly not to take action today, do not end up old and broke and have to work through the golden years of your life.

Retirement should mean that you get to do all of the things that you wanted to do your whole life, but were too busy working or raising your children to be able to do. Spoil your grandkids, travel around the world, take a cruise to Alaska, learn a new skill or language. Buy your dream car and just cruise around spending time with family and friends.

Anyone of these things sound better to me than getting up at 400am to go stock  shelves at the local Harris Teeter or work until 1000pm greeting people as they enter your local WalMart store. The choice is yours to make, but I would not waste too much more time making it. Enjoy the video below and you will see that creating wealth in your life is not as difficult as you may think.

Being Greatful & Taking Action

Friday, December 17th, 2010

As 2010 ends and the new year begins, I think most of us tend to reflect on what is good in our life and what needs to be worked on. From losing weight, starting a new job or business to mending broken relationships, the list can be long and extensive. I have so many things in my life that I want to change or improve on, but I never go to bed without thanking God for all that is good in my life.  A man without shoes will complain until he meets a man without feet, keep the right perspective in life.

It is difficult in our current environment to focus on the good and not get pulled down by the bad. Our politicians cannot decide on which direction to guide our country, so we continue to go down a destructive path. I get upset just talking politics, I do not trust any of our leaders and feel that the situation that we have been in will continue to get worse before it gets better.

You have to take care of yourself, I watched a very disturbing segment on 60 minutes about our current condition and the shape of most retired people in our country or want to be retired people I should say. It is sad to hear how many people in this country will be working until the day they die because they cannot afford to retire. It does not matter the reasons why or how it happen, just know that the chances of the same happening to you are great unless you take action to change it.

The old way just does not work any more, work for 40 years, save and invest a portion of your income and hope and pray that when you reach retirement age there will be enough money for you to live on, if you cut your expenses and live a quality of life half what you are use to. That is best case scenario, the other is you just work until you die. I find neither option exceptable, but do not expect Washington to fix it. I have not figured out where the most greedy and selfish individuals work, Washington D.C. or corporate America?

Enjoy the video below and discover how you can prevent yourself from becoming a victim, retirement will be here before you know it. Will you be able to live the quality of life that you deserve?

Snow day in O’Hare

Friday, December 10th, 2010

Well it is that time a year again, it is snowing like mad in Chicago and i am trying to commute into work to start day one of a four day trip. After my ride to the airport and making my way through the ever so delightful TSA ( Transportation Security Administration ) check point I discovered that my first flight to O’Hare had canceled, great!

Off to option number two, a United flight that was now oversold due to the previous US Air flight cancellation. Strike two, it was obvious now that I was not making it to work on time. After speaking with my crew scheduling department they informed me that my trip that day had been canceled, great I said, I will just go back home. Unfortunately, they had other plans.

I finally made it to work and then immediately boarded my flight to Des Moines Iowa for the overnight. Still snowing like crazy, so after the de-icing process was complete we could finally depart. I finally arrived in my hotel room at 130am my time, a 19.5 hr day so far, not too uncommon in this business.

I am always reminded that no matter how bad that it gets, it could always be worse. Check out the video below to see what I mean.

The Why

Wednesday, December 8th, 2010

Many people have ask me why I got involved in network marketing. It is a good question to ask. I am currently an airline captain and I do make a good income, but there is no security or stability in my profession as with most in this environment that we are living in.

I feel that everyone needs to have a side business if for no other reason than to help you combat the high level of taxes that we have to pay every year. Most of us that work a job, work almost half the year just to pay our taxes. I do not mind paying my fair share, but when I see how much is taken out of my paycheck every other week and I see how it is wasted by our government, it is very upsetting.

When I read about guys like Trump, Buffet and Kiyosaki and what they have to say about the network marketing business, it just confirms to me that I am in the right place at the right time. I know that many of you will be looking to make a change in 2011 from starting a business, getting into shape, repairing broken relationships or what ever has been troubling you.

A new year is the best time to make a change and take action on what ever it is in your life that has been holding you back from acheiving the happiness that you deserve. Watch the short video below by Robert Kiyosaki ( Rich dad Poor Dad  author ) and call the pre-recorded message by my friend and mentor Dr Troy McHenry and learn for yourself why the network marketing business is right for you.
