What a day! It always makes me laugh when I hear management at my airline talk about how safety comes first. Yesterday was day one of a four day trip for me and it began with a 6 am wake up for a 9 am flight to O’Hare to start my day.

It started with the usual delay that we experience at O’hare this time of year. Once arriving, I deplaned my United flight and got right on my first turn to Rochester. After de-icing and waiting to depart we were running about two hours behind. After returning to Chicago it was a aircraft swap then off to Toronto to encounter an even bigger mess!

We landed back at O’hare about 11 pm my time only to receive a call from crew scheduling just a few minutes after blocking into the gate asking me where I was. They had boarded my flight to Sioux Falls, South Dakota and was waiting on me. At this point I had been going since 6 am est.

When we finally landed in Sioux Falls, I think I had flown over 10 hours for the day and had been up for over 20. This is not too uncommon in my industry, especially on the days that we encounter bad weather. This is just one of the many reasons why I work my business so hard!

I don’t know where you stand in life with your job or business, but I know that there is a better way to have a quality life without having to kill yourself or let the company you work for beat you up. Every company out here today wants you to do more for less, including mine.

Do not get me wrong, I do love to fly and I appreciate my job, but it is nice to know that I can hang it up when I am ready and I will not be forced to fly until I am 65 years old. It is all about having choices in your life!

Just wanted to take a few minutes to share a short video clip with you. So many people I come in contact with during my travels are more interested in where I am going or where I have been than anything else. I guess the thought of traveling is exciting for most, but those that have to do it for a living know otherwise.

I will try to do a video a week from a different destination for those that are interested in where I am or would just like to see a little bit of the country through my eyes. I do still enjoy my job and I am very thankful to being doing something that I love, but no matter how much you love doing something, if you do it long enough, frequent enough, it is bound to turn into a real grind at some point.

That is just one of the many reasons I encourage everyone to develop a side business. Multiple streams of income allow you to achieve financial freedom much sooner and provides you with a peace of mind. If you lose your only source of income (your job) you could be in big trouble very fast.

It just makes since to develop additional streams of income to provide security for you and your family, especially in the current economic situation that we are experiencing today. It is easier today than ever to start and grow your own business. The internet has made the world your market place and just using one of the many social media outlets (Facebook, Twitter, Linkin, Myspace,etc) you can explode your business.

Well today is January 31st, the first month of the year is over, where are you with your goals?
